I sought Emma out for weight loss as I was drifting away from disordered eating habits. I was in the worst depression I had been in in a very long time, and I was quickly losing hope. Emma brought that light back into my life with her 3-month package. 

I was obsessed with being skinny at the risk of my health. I wasn’t eating the right foods, I wasn’t eating enough of anything, and I was exercising way too much. Her goal with me was health-related and her questionnaires were very thorough. She cares more than any doctor I’ve ever been to.

Emma’s vibe during reiki and our talking sessions was calming, welcoming, and safe. There is no judgement in any of her sessions and she truly only wants what best for her clients. She taught me a lot about where my poor relationship with food came from and how to heal it. By the end of our time together, I felt comfortable applying everything to myself. I highly recommend Emma Kestler for anyone who is looking for a health coach. She is phenomenal! I was entrenched in a bad eating/no exercise habit for years and I reached out to Emma for help 6 months ago. I was used to eating rich, fatty, salty food loaded with bad oils and I felt unmotivated and bloated all the time. I also didn’t exercise and went to food for comfort when I felt stressed or bored. Emma taught me so many skills, both in maintaining a healthy relationship with food and also creating habits that made me lose weight and feel better on a daily basis (resulting in me feeling active, light, and naturally energized).

In the first 3 months of my health plan, I lost 15 lbs and instituted healthy, sustainable habits which Emma taught me. She invested time and research into a personalized plan for me according to my weight, height, age, sex, habits, etc. Emma broke my new eating plan into simple parts that I could understand, providing scientific background that did not overwhelm me, while also assuring me that I could contact her at anytime if I wanted to know more about the science of my new, clean eating regimen. Emma taught me about the importance of protein and complex carbohydrates, good fats, and the reasons why I should keep my processed sugar intake to a minimum. She provided me with a grocery list (that changed over the months according to my goals and evolving exercise regimen), recipes, personalized advice, and email, text, and Skype sessions to talk over my health plan in real time. Emma has always made herself available to me so that I can contact her with questions regarding specific ingredients, new recipes I may want to try, grocery lists, and exercise questions. She regularly provides me with exercise and diet material so that I am exponentially learning more and more every month. She also checks in with me regularly asking questions, helping me to feel supported.

Since Emma keeps detailed notes about my progress and communicates with me about likes and dislikes, my health plan is constantly evolving slightly to match my needs. However, the foundation is laid and I practice a completely new relationship to food thanks to her education and guidance. I now have staple food items I regularly ingest (proteins, complex carbohydrates, etc) that make my clean eating routine sustainable. I feel much more in tune with my body and knowledgeable about food thanks to Emma. She is incredible and anyone who chooses her as a health coach is in excellent hands.

When I first approached Emma, my main goal was related to weight loss. I felt very intrigued by her Instagram posts and I felt called to find out more about her approach to food freedom. I have been on a journey with weight loss for as long as I can remember, I had previously tried many crash diets and fast weight loss strategies that did have great results at the moment but I was never able to keep the weight off. I was hoping to finally achieve a healthy relationship with food and learn on ways to keep the extra weight off permanently. As a vegetarian I often struggle with finding balance to eat the right foods and not have a carb overload with every meal.

When I first started working with Emma, I absolutely loved that in our first session she went with me to do food shopping and she had a first look into my food shopping habits. Together we explored different food options I could have, and I appreciated that we first focused on establishing healthy habits over time, like eating slowly, having meals in mind before going food shopping, trying different foods that I thought I wouldn’t like, and many more. Emma really wanted me to focus on my behaviors and I found it amazing all of the awareness it brought me. I never realized how fast I ate and I definitely was a big overeater because of that. I know my overeating definitely contributed to gaining weight over time.

I also realized that I didn’t have to be “all or nothing”. I could still go out and be social with friends and indulge in a glass of wine or dessert here and there as long as I was practicing healthy habits and was aware. I didn’t need to follow the “cheat meal” methodology or label foods as good or bad.

I learned that this is a lifestyle change and not a quick fix. It also was extremely encouraging that on our weekly calls we would review how the week went, how I was feeling, we did many exercises that helped me explore the things that potentially contributed to my weight gain, among other things. Emma provided some great tools that especially helped when I felt anxious or had cravings. Her approach is so amazingly different from other methods I tried before, she makes it so easy to integrate healthy choices and habits into your everyday life. Her approach to health and wellness is completely holistic and so doable. She introduced me to new healthy habits that have set me on the path to changing my relationship with food for the better.

Another tool that Emma implements in her program is Reiki. The Reiki sessions were SPECTACULAR. I felt super relaxed, more focused, less doubtful, I felt aligned with my true purpose and so ready to undertake my life journey after each session. She provided me with non-judgmental support at a time when I really needed it the most. It's clear she genuinely cares about her clients' well-being, and not just numbers on a scale.

The tools I learned while working with Emma will definitely help me stay healthy in the long run. I know that as long as I consistently practice healthy habits I can maintain a healthy weight, and if I slip up and make an unhealthy choice, I can pick right back up and practice a healthy lifestyle. Remember, it’s not all or nothing. If you’re thinking about signing up for Emma’s coaching, you might be scared to make the investment. But, think of everything you will GAIN by investing in yourself: health, confidence, happiness, accomplishment, and so much more.
